Meditation 101

In this 6 week class, learn how to relax the body and mind through meditation. Discover ways to tap into the wisdom of your higher self. We will use meditation to clear the energy channels in the body, meet your spirit guide, find the best mantra for you, and much more. Start here to learn how to meditate and to learn how to easily incorporate meditation into your busy schedule. Ballroom Dance

Learn the art of partner dance with Viva Dance Studio at LifeWorks of Southwest General. This session, your teacher will focus on Waltz and Rumba. Achieve the skills and confidence you need to move across the dance floor with ease. Waltz is a timeless dance and Rumba is its Latin counterpart that can be useful in many situations from weddings to cruises or even our on the town. Dancing to music can transition a person into the positive emotional state which releases endorphins affecting one's overall mood.

Chair Yoga
This class is specifically designed and instructed for people who have had injuries, have chronic conditions, weight challenges, inflexibility or have difficulty with the physical requirements of floor exercise.
Your instructor will adapt regular yoga poses and modify them specifically for you. The chair replaces the yoga mat and becomes an extension of your body, allowing you to take full advantage of yoga’s amazing fitness and health potential. Focus on flexibility, concentrate on stretching your muscles, and allow your body and mind to experience a release of stress and tension through the focus on yoga breath. Free Talk - Emotional Health in Cancer Survivorship
Tuesday October 24 at 6PM- Held at the SW Old Oak Center, hosted by SW Community Nurses.

After cancer treatment has stopped, it is not uncommon for men and women to struggle with emotional & mental health issues like anxiety, distress or fear. Join Amanda Vitek, MSN, APRN-CNP and Bethany Vince, MSSA, LISW-S, CCM, from the UH Seidman Cancer Center to learn about coping strategies you can use to feel better. The Gathering Place will share information about the free cancer support resources available to you and your loved ones. Learn about the wide variety of programs and services offered in-person and virtually. Staff will be on-site to answer any questions and will lead an interactive activity. Refreshments provided.

Fitness is Power®, an exercise program for breast cancer survivors
Fitness is Power® is a funded program to provide breast cancer survivors with a 6-month fitness plan including one on one fitness coaching, support and even an oncology massage. Candidates for this program must have received services at Southwest General. Donations are accepted any time.

RX for Health - Physician Referred Exercise Program
This 60 day exercise program is designed to help manage chronic diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes & cholesterol. Participants will receive one-on-one appointments with a fitness coach, an individualized exercise program and nutritional guidance. All participants have full access to the LifeWorks facility and to over 100 complimentary group exercise classes.
